The Teachings from the Book of Acts of the Apostles

Categories: Teachings from the Book of Acts of the Apostles

Introduction

During the time the Lord Jesus was on earth, He taught all of His disciples the way of ministry, and He provided personal examples of how to follow Him and how to be His disciples.

After His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His ascension to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, to be the Helper, Comforter, and Guide for the apostles and for all His disciples, both at that time and until His second coming to earth.

Today, as true followers of the Lord Jesus, we are called to follow the teachings of the Lord Jesus and the examples of His life on earth found in the Gospels. Furthermore, the Lord God Almighty allowed the Book of Acts to be included in the canon of the Holy Bible so that we can learn how to minister under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and take the apostles and disciples of that time as living examples for our own lives and ministry.

At Bible Commentary Forever Ministry, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we categorized the teachings of the Lord Jesus found in the Gospels into six main categories, and each category is further subdivided into additional themes (see The Teachings of the Lord Jesus blog article). Similarly, we can categorize the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts into five spiritual categories and then divide each category into additional themes.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts

The Trinity of God (God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit) is One and is present throughout the entire Holy Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

By reading and meditating on the Book of Acts, we understand that the work of the Holy Spirit after the Lord Jesus’ resurrection and ascension to heaven is fundamental to spreading the good news about the beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ, His coming to earth to bring salvation to all through faith in Him, His resurrection from the dead, the necessity for true believers to be baptized in water, and the need to seek and wait for the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

For all believers, it is important to understand that now the Lord Jesus is sitting at the Father's right hand and is One with the Father and the Holy Spirit, but in a different way than at the beginning. The difference is that the beloved Son still has His human form in heaven. God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit have been One since eternity.

Therefore, in this state of the Holy Trinity, with the Lord Jesus in His heavenly and human body, being One with the Father and the Holy Spirit while sitting at the Father’s right hand, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father through the Son and then comes to the earth (see our article, “Holy Spirit Proceeding”).

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, all true believers can be blessed with the miraculous gift of the Holy Spirit baptism, evidenced by the miraculous gift of speaking in other tongues (see our article, “The Baptism in the Holy Spirit”).

At Bible Commentary Forever Ministries, we divide the teachings found in the Book of Acts into five spiritual categories, and under each category we structure the teachings into additional themes. Here in this blog, we present our spiritual categories for the Book of Acts and the number of themes associated with each category.

We have placed the entire content of the Book of Acts within these categories by dividing each chapter into passages, and based on the content of each passage, we have placed it into a theme within an appropriate category that reflects the spiritual content of the passage.

Spiritual Categories of the Book of Acts

1. The baptism in the Holy Spirit with the miraculous sign of speaking in other tongues: 4 themes.

2. The testimony of the Holy Spirit, the angels, and the disciples to the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ: 5 themes.

3. Miraculous works performed through the power of the Holy Spirit: 4 themes.

4. The spread of the good news of salvation to the Jews and the Gentile world: 4 themes.

5. Persecution for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: 3 themes.

Conclusions

The writer of the entire Holy Bible is the Holy Spirit; human writers, chosen servants of God, have undertaken the task of writing the Word of God under the dictation of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, at Bible Commentary Forever Ministries, we believe that the Holy Bible is Holy Spirit-dictated, word by word.

Dividing the teachings of the New Testament into spiritual categories follows the true teaching of the Holy Spirit to humans and reveals the spiritual meaning of each Bible passage.

We encourage all readers to read and meditate on the entire Word of God, the Bible (the Old Testament and the New Testament). Additionally, we encourage all readers to study our spiritual categories developed for the four Gospels, beginning with our blog article, “The Teachings of the Lord Jesus.” We also encourage readers to study our spiritual categories developed for the Book of Acts by following the links provided in this blog article.
