The Law of God is Unchangeable with Time and Space

Categories: The Deity of the Lord Jesus and the Trinity of God

Introduction

The Lord God created the seen and the unseen world, and His Law for mankind is unchangeable with time and space. The Lord God Almighty does not change (Malachi 3:6); He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). In this blog article, we bring together various Scripture passages to argue that the Law of God is the same for all, throughout all generations, regardless of location on Earth, culture, traditions, or societal teachings. Additionally, we can remain steadfast in our faith in the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit—through the help of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ. These gifts are available to all who seek them in the name of the Lord Jesus.

The Law of God is the Same for All

In this section, we show that the Law of God is the same for all: we are to follow all the commandments of the Lord from our hearts, we must all love the Lord, and the gift of the Holy Spirit is given to all.

In Matthew 19:1-8, the Lord Jesus, while on earth, went to minister in the region of Judea beyond the Jordan, and He taught the people living there that the Word of God and the Law of God do not change if we move from place to place and they are the same for every culture, race, and language.

1 And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these words, He departed from Galilee, and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan;

It is believed that the region referred to in this chapter was called “Judea beyond Jordan” because of the people living there. There were many Jews from Judea that settled there, and many natives of the land had converted to Judaism. The Lord went beyond the Jordan River to gather the lost sheep of Israel, which were spread out and lived among the natives of the land.
It is to be noted that the Lord Jesus, during His ministry on earth, always traveled to give all people the good news; this is part of showing His love for people and opening the way for people to come to God.
He has the living Word to the whole world. The message of the Lord Jesus has no barriers; it is for every culture, color, and language. His message to all people is salvation by grace, not by works.

2 and great multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.

The Lord shows His mercy by healing the people.

3 And the Pharisees came to Him, tempting Him, and saying, Is it lawful to divorce his wife for every cause?

“And the Pharisees came to Him.” These are Pharisees from that region, Judea beyond Jordan, that grew up there, and they have been taught there and were mixed with the people of that region.
Their question arose due to the way of life in that region, and they were trying to accommodate. However, the people of God have different rules of life because they must follow God’s Law given through Moses, which was different from that of the people of that region. The Law of God sets them apart and makes them distinct; they live in the same region, but they must follow a different set of laws to live by.
Specifically, suppose a Jewish man divorces a Jewish woman and takes a woman of the region to replace the first wife. In that case, that man commits adultery unless the Jewish wife is unfaithful. Also, the right of the firstborn cannot be transferred to the child born through adultery; the right of the firstborn must be to the people of God (See Ezra 9:1-2; Ezra 10:10-11).
“Tempting Him.” The Pharisees’ question is viewed as tempting the Lord because of the answer the Lord gives; that is the temptation, as they want to verify the Lord Jesus’ answer against the knowledge of the people taught in the land. The Lord has an answer, unlike the Pharisees, who claim to be taught but do not know the real meaning.

4 And answering, He said, Have you not read that He who made from the beginning made them male and female,

5 and said, On account of this will a man leave his father and mother, and will be united with his wife; and the two will become one flesh?

6 Therefore, they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has united together, let not man put apart.

7 They say to Him, Why then did Moses command to offer a bill of divorce, and to set her free?

In these verses, people come to be against the teaching “the two will become one flesh.” They could not accept man and woman becoming one flesh; because of the problem of authority and subordination, the woman was under the man. If they become one, they are equal. At that time, men could not accept the idea of being equal to women. The pride of men plays a significant role in their lives, and equality is unacceptable, but men often forget that they are born through women (See 1 Corinthians 11:11-12).

8 He says to them, Moses for your hardness of heart allowed you to set free your wives; but from the beginning it has not been so.

The reason why Moses commanded one to give a certificate of divorce was to eliminate slave wives. As much as men had wealth in life, they collected more wives, and man’s pride would ignite. However, when a man had more than one wife, one would be more favored and become above the others, and the lower ones were no better than slaves. Suppose the unwanted wife did not get a certificate of divorce. In that case, there was nothing left for the life of that woman but to be a slave, but the Lord did not want any of His children to become slaves. This law was to be used only for God’s children. (See Exodus 21:7-11).

The Bible tells us that the Lord created from the beginning two genders on this earth, man and woman, He created (Genesis 1:27), and from a man, Adam, and a woman, Eve, the entire human race spread (Genesis 1:28); so, if a man and a woman procreate, they will produce another man or woman and so on. Also, when a man marries a woman, they become one flesh (Genesis 2:24), meaning that they are equal in Christ; there is no genderism and no racism in Christ; we are all equal in Christ (Galatian 3:28).

Furthermore, we as followers of the Lord Jesus must follow the Law of the beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ, as taught by the Word of God and are called to be a holy nation unto Christ, and we are required to live different lives in this world (1 Peter 2:9-10, 2 Corinthians 6:17); furthermore, we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers as we are taught in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

14 Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what concord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has a temple of God with idols? For we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore, Come you out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you, 18And will be to you a Father, And you shall be to me sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

We must never forget that regardless of where we live and what the tradition, culture, or society teaches, the commandments of God and the provisions of God are the same everywhere we are. Therefore, for us as followers of the Lord Jesus, regardless of our race, culture, or language, whenever we meet different people or live among other people of various religions and beliefs, we cannot change or compromise the Law of the Lord Jesus Christ. We must love the Lord and stand firm on the Bible and the Word of God, and for this, only the Holy Spirit can guide us and help us to keep the way of the Lord Jesus while living in this world. So, as followers of the Lord Jesus today, we all need to receive help from the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ to be able to stay firm in our faith. We read in John 14:15-16 that the Lord Jesus will send the Helper (the Holy Spirit), and the Helper will be for all those that believe in His Name, regardless of race, culture, or language.

15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

The beloved Son of God has given a precise meaning to loving Him. As the verse has told, if you love Him, keep all the commandments He has given to you; if you don’t remember all the commandments, you do not love Him enough yet, you did not repeat His commandments enough in your heart; but if your heart truly wants to know, go and search in the Holy Bible and you will see all the commandments He has given.
This verse refers to all humans because the Father has created the humans for His pleasure; so, you, as a human, since you are created for Him, must follow His commandments.
In the context of keeping the commandments of the Lord, in Matthew 22:37-40, the Lord Jesus gave two essential commandments. One might ask themselves if there are other commandments they should consider besides these two. We must remember that when the beloved Son of God has talked about love, He also has talked about loving the Word of God as well, and then you must find for yourself how to love the Word and what you should do with that love of the Word; should you just read the Word and let it rest or meditate on it and get understanding and follow? And when you understand and follow, that would be enough to follow His commandments.

16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Intercessor that exists with you to the age,

“Another Intercessor”: Besides the Spirit of the beloved Son of God, “another” refers to the Holy Spirit, which the Father will give to the true believers; the Spirit of the beloved Son of God has already been given to all that truly believe in His Deity and follow His commandments.
“Intercessor” refers to the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Spirit; both are Intercessors; the duty of both Spirits will be to guide the true believers and help the true believers to meditate on the Holy Word.
This verse refers to all that follow the Lord’s teaching; if you follow the Holy Bible and meditate and practice, then when you have both meditation and practice, the beloved Son of God will do as the verse has told to all. For all true believers to receive the Holy Spirit, they must also abide by the teaching. When you have received the Holy Spirit, He will not depart from you only when your heart has blasphemed against the Trinity of God.
Following the Lord’s teaching also refers to letting the Holy Word be the food of your soul; your body needs food, and the soul needs food as well; you eat food every day, so meditate on the Holy Word every day as well.
Think in this way as well; people may talk about God all day long, but that does not have any impact in their heart on what God truly is for them if they don’t meditate on the Word; most think only God is up there, not down here; they have forgotten that He has given the Living Word, and the Word cannot be living Word if God is not in the Word, and that can say to all believers: God is on earth as well, and if you don’t read the living Word, you have not been in touch with God Himself.
Reading these comments, one might notice that we mention the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit of Christ in these comments and might ask themselves how they are supposed to understand the Trinity in this context. In the context of the Trinity of God, we cannot say that the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are identical, but we can say that both Intercessors are One because the Father and the Son are One. The Father and the beloved Son are One; when we say Trinity, we refer to the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are also joined to be One, and they work together.
The Father is a person, the Holy Spirit is a person, and the Son is a person; so, we might ask ourselves how we can understand the Spirit of Christ within the Trinity of God. Understanding this concept, we must also remember that within the Trinity of God, only the beloved Son of God is in human form. The beloved Son of God returned to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father in His human form and heavenly form; therefore, in His human form, He must have the Spirit, so the Spirit of Christ is with Him, but, also, He has sent His Spirit to help the humans.

We can understand from the Word of God that the Lord didn’t send the Holy Spirit only to the Jerusalem area. He sent Him to the entire world; the Holy Spirit encompasses the world, and any person who seeks the Lord can find the Holy Spirit and invite Him in their hearts regardless of where they are, the North Pole, the South Pole, or any other region in the world.

Moreover, since the Holy Spirit encompasses the world, and He is the same everywhere, then all the commandments of God are the same everywhere since the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are the Ones guiding all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. This principle applies to all commandments the Lord gave, including the water baptism. All true followers of the Lord Jesus must be baptized in the water and make a public confession of their faith in the Lord Jesus regardless of what country or city they live in the world and irrespective of the church customs, such as child baptism or sprinkling; a true believer must baptize by water immersion as the Lord Himself gave us the example to follow, and the baptism in the water is the first step a true believer should take in following the way of the Trinity of God.

In Matthew 3:13-17, we find the baptism of the Lord Jesus in the Jordan River by John and His baptism by the Holy Spirit of His earthly body by the Father Himself.

13 Then comes Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John was hindering Him, saying, I have need to be baptized of Thee, and do Thou come to me?

This passage of Scripture shows that even the sinless Lamb of God needs to be baptized in water. If the sinless Lamb of God asks to be baptized, how then can humans say they have no sin and do not need to be baptized? Here, we see the example of what we need to follow regarding baptizing in water.

15 However, Jesus answering him said, Permit just now; for thus it is proper to us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he permits Him.

As it is written, “to fulfill all righteousness,” the Lord Jesus Himself needed to be baptized in water. He is God and human, and this is an example for humans to follow. If the sinless One has to be baptized in water, then all the people who want to follow the Lord Jesus must also do so. As is the walk through the gate of death, even so, a person baptizing in the water dies from the old life and becomes a new person in the Lord. The old book of life has been destroyed, and a new book of life starts (See Matthew 12:30, 36-37). When you merge under the water in the name of the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, your soul is touched by the Lord in that water. And when you come out from that water, the Lord becomes the guide of your soul in the unseen world and the master of your life in this world. Water baptism is essential for a new believer, but the person must meditate on the Lord’s teaching and seek and ask for the Holy Spirit baptism as well; when you have received the Holy Spirit baptism, the Holy Spirit goes through your soul and guides your soul. All humans need to be born of water and the Holy Spirit to enter the kingdom of heaven (See John 3:5). Your life living on this earth has to follow according to the master of your life. If you do not baptize in the water, your soul does not have a chance to be counted in; after the Lord’s crucifixion, all must be baptized in water. For the soul of a human, the baptism in the water is the same way as a butterfly emerging. The soul itself is wrapped with many layers of sins. When you submerge into the baptism water and when you come out, most of the layers of sins covering your soul are left in the water, and you come out with a purer soul, free; this is the new birth in the spiritual world. However, when the Holy Spirit baptism occurs, it will thoroughly cleanse the soul, resulting in a complete cleansing of your soul.

16 Now, Jesus, having been baptized, ascended immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, alighting upon Him;

Here, the door of heaven is opened to the Lord Jesus for the Lord to see His house (the Father’s throne); the Lord Jesus misses His home. The Father misses His Son. This reunion act is a reunion between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (the Trinity of God).

17 and behold, a voice from out of the heavens, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

John saw part of the reunion act between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All the other people present only heard the voice of the Father. See also Comments Mark 1:9-11.

Furthermore, in Matthew 28:19-20, the Lord Jesus gave to all of His disciples the great commission:

19 Go therefore, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:

These verses tell those who follow the Lord’s teaching that all should do the same way as the Bible tells. When you meet someone, the first thing in your heart should be to call upon the Lord for help to be the guide to your tongue to speak and to deposit words in your heart to be able to speak out those words for all that you have a chance to meet. But first, be aware of the fake (insincere) appearances of people who come and ask for opinions of the Word; don’t answer from your own understanding; think of the Lord first, and the words will come.
“Baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” When you baptize someone, you cannot omit any names. A complete baptism must always be in the God of Three; you cannot skip any of the names, and this is an order of the Way. If they baptize differently anywhere, do not even be involved with them; you cannot be baptized without all the Three (The Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit).

20 teaching them to observe all things whatever I commanded you; and behold, I am with you all the days, until the end of the age.

“Behold, I am with you all the days, until the end of the age.” In this verse, we have two portions: “I am with you all the days,” which refers to the people who have accepted the Deity of the Son of God, that He is the true and only Son of God, and all things were created through Him as the Bible tells; and “until the end of the age,” which means until the earth itself has collapsed and the end of all things takes place. “The end of the age” refers not only to the end of the human race but the end of the earth itself because, in Him (the Son of God), all things were created; all things were created through Him, so He will not abandon all things until the end of the age.

Conclusions

In conclusion, we discussed how the Law of God and the commandments of God remain the same, regardless of time and space, since the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are present in the world today, guiding all humans in understanding the law of God. Specifically, the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are One and the same everywhere, and They have no boundaries of race, culture, or language. So, as true followers of the Lord Jesus, we must follow the commandments of the Lord Jesus regardless of where we live on this earth and among what people; we are responsible for being true to the whole Council of God: love the Lord our God with all our hearts and love people around us, read and meditate on the Word of God, go and baptize in water for remissions of sins and seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and follow all other commandments given to us in the Word of God.

So, let us all follow the Lord’s commandments and be rooted in the truth of the entire Bible, not be ashamed of the Lord Jesus, and not be trapped in the culture of the day, such as music, new ideologies, evolution theories, Big Bang theories, new findings of science which change every day; instead, let us always believe that the Lord is unchangeable, and He is the only True God and giver of life to all humans.
