Introduction
We, as the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, must obey all the commandments the Lord Jesus gives us. However, there are a few core faith statements that separate us and define the God we serve. The following is a link to our core faith statements: Bible Commentary Forever Ministries Core Faith. In this blog, we will meditate on the first three essential core faith principles:
- We believe in the Trinity of God: God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit; God of Three but One. God of Three: different in each individual, but the Three become One in the Father; everything is in the Father. The God of Three is One from the beginning. The Lord Jesus Christ was begotten when He took flesh upon Himself, but He is One with the Father from the beginning (read our article: The Trinity of God). -- Genesis 1:26-28; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 19:17; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:21-23; John 1:1-3; John 1:14; John 3:16.
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary to be the Son of God and the Son of Man (read our article: The Lord Jesus the Son of God and the Son of Man). -- Matthew 1:25; Luke 1:30-35.
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is both the Son of God and the Son of Man, being one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man. Furthermore, the Lord Jesus Christ is the only sinless human and the only begotten Son of God (read our article: The Lord Jesus the Son of God and the Son of Man). -- Matthew 12:18; Matthew 17:2; Matthew 20:28; Mark 14:61-62; John 1:1-5; John 3:13; John 10:28-30; Colossians 2:9.
The Way of the Followers of Jesus Christ the Son of God
In our walk with the Lord Jesus, we must clearly understand who the Lord Jesus is for us, and we must keep the narrow way as He teaches us. In Matthew 7:13-14, we find the teaching of our Lord Jesus about the way of being a true believer:
Matthew 7:13 Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate, and broad is the way leading to destruction, and many are those entering through it. 14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, leading to life, and few are those finding it.
Comments Matthew 7:14. “For narrow ... leading to life.” Humans are selfish and believe in themselves, so it is hard for them to accept that a man can be God. They cannot accept that God walked on earth as a man. The dark mind covers the eyes of humans. The way is narrow, and there is only one way to heaven: through the Lord Jesus. How many humans are there willing to give their life for another human? There is no other way to heaven but to believe in the Lord Jesus. In John 14:6, the Lord Jesus tells us, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, if not by Me.”
“Few are ... finding it.” People try to find reasons to fight against the virgin birth. They limit God’s power to make a human baby without the action in a human manner. However, John 1:13 clearly tells us that the Lord Jesus was born by the power of God. Only a few have clear minds and can accept that God has the power to do unbelievable things; those few will find the way to heaven.
The Incarnation of the Word in the Lord Jesus, the Son of God
In John 1:11-14, we read about the incarnation of the Word of God into the person of the Lord Jesus as the Son of God and the Son of Man.
John 1:11 He came to His own, and those belonging to Himself received Him not. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those that believe in His name,
Comments John 1:12. Now, this verse does not talk about only His own people, but talks about all humans of this earth; all that comes and accepts the Lord Jesus from a true heart, the Lord Himself will adopt them all to be His children; they just need to accept His beloved Son to be the true God for them, and all will earn that right to become children of God.
13 who was born, not out of blood, nor out of the will of the flesh, nor out of the will of man, but of God.
Comments John 1:13. “who was born, not out of blood, nor out of the will of the flesh.” At first, all readers should think, when the verse has told “not out of the blood,” what do you think of that blood? The beloved Son of God was not born through the sperm of a human, which is the blood; that is the meaning. When the Bible has told, “nor out of the will of the flesh,” the beloved Son of God was not born through the woman’s will but the will of the Father Himself who gave the woman to be able to conceive the beloved Son in her womb; that is why the verse tells He was not born by the will of the flesh.
“nor out of the will of man, but of God.” From the verse itself, we can clearly see that the beloved Son of God came down to be born by the will of the Father Himself, which is the most honorable will; also, the beloved Son of God was utterly willing to come down to do so the Father’s will.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Comments John 1:14. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” This portion of the verse clearly tells all humans that the beloved Son of God came down to be born as a human and took the human flesh to be His own; the beloved Son of God has lowered Himself down to be a human.
“and we beheld His glory … full of grace and truth.” From the first breath of life that the beloved Son of God has taken on this earth, His glory has shown to all humans, the glory from the Father Himself, the glory from the Father Himself has come down with the beloved Son as well, all humans can see through His grace and the truth that He is teaching to all humans; all His teaching is the truth of life, every human should take it seriously, the Bible is the Word of life.
Full of grace in this place means that when every human reads the Bible, all can notice the way the beloved Son of God has used His life on earth, teaching and pointing out the way to be saved; all of the teaching the beloved Son of God has given to humans is giving according to His own grace to humans, for all can see and worship Him.
Grace (meaning from Webster dictionary): unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.
The Deity of the Lord Jesus
In John 10:29-30, we clearly learn about the deity of the Lord Jesus.
John 10:29 My Father, who has given to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch out from the Father's hand.
Comments John 10:29. In this verse, let all the believers notice that the Father Himself is the One that picks you and gives you into the beloved Son’s hand; whoever or whatever that wants to snatch you, their fight will be with the Father; that is why you can be sure, nothing can fight with the Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father are One.
Comments John 10:30. All readers must keep this in their hearts; the beloved Son of God and the Father are One. Therefore, because God is One, you cannot worship only One person, but you must worship the God of Three in One (God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit).
And, in John 14:6, the Lord Jesus tells us about the way of truth and life.
John 14:6 Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, if not by Me.
Comments John 14:6. “I am the way.” The beloved Son of God has said to all true believers, according to the way of living, you walk on the road, but when to come to be alive on both this earth and the earth to come, you must walk the way the beloved Son of God has walked for you; you can see what He has taught you, use that way for your walk. When He says He is the way, He also tells all readers: you have the beloved Son of God as a leader, use His teaching, meditate on His word, and you will know the way to walk on this life.
“and the truth.” The beloved Son of God in human form is the truth for humans. His way of being human has also shown all humans that humans can be better than now. The Lord did not create humans just for His pleasure; He loves humans, and the beloved Son of God is the proof of His true love for humans; when the beloved Son has accepted the human form, the true love of God has been proven to all humans. He is the truth because He has come in person and has taken the form of a human; think in this way as well, the God Most High came down and took human form to show the true love of God towards humans; the truth of God has been shown in His love.
“and the life.” Through the beloved Son of God, you can have life after death. The life He will give to you is for eternity; that is the true life you will get if you keep the teaching of the Holy Bible until the last day of your life on earth.
“no one comes ….” The Father is the Most High God, and to come to Him is only one way through the beloved Son of God. So, there is no other way to be close to the Father, but only if you are behind the beloved Son of God; the glory of the beloved Son will shadow your soul, and your soul will be safe in front of the Father.
